Four more people died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, raising the total number of deaths since 15 March to 712, according to the Directorate General of Health Services. No confirmed measles death was recorded during the latest reporting period.
The health directorate said in its regular measles report published on Sunday that the figures covered the period from 8am on Saturday to 8am on Sunday.
According to the report, 619 people have died with measles symptoms and 93 people have died from confirmed measles since 15 March.
The latest 24-hour tally also recorded 941 new patients showing measles symptoms nationwide. Since 15 March, the number of patients with measles symptoms has reached 99,207.
The Directorate General of Health Services said 116 confirmed measles cases were identified in the past 24 hours. Since 15 March, a total of 11,710 people have been diagnosed with measles in the country.
The report said 82,844 people with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospital since 15 March. Of them, 79,152 have been discharged after recovery.
Among the four people who died with measles symptoms in the latest 24-hour period, two were in Dhaka Division, while one death each was reported in Sylhet Division and Mymensingh Division.
