Ajker Patrika Marks Fifth Anniversary, Reaffirms Commitment to Neutral Journalism

Ajker Patrika on Saturday marked its fifth anniversary with a small in-house event at its head office in Banasree, Dhaka, where Acting Editor Kamrul Hasan said the daily had remained steadfast in neutral and credible journalism despite the rise of algorithm-driven media.

The anniversary was celebrated by cutting a cake at the event.

Kamrul Hasan said that over the past five years, Ajker Patrika had not deviated “even an inch” from the principles of neutral and trustworthy journalism despite facing various challenges.

Kamrul Hasan said journalism had become heavily dependent on algorithms, with technology increasingly determining what people read and what they do not. In such a reality, he said, the need for neutral and credible news media had grown even more important.

Kamrul Hasan also said, “There may be spelling or sentence errors, but we have never published completely false news.”

Kamrul Hasan credited the newspaper’s success to its reporters, editorial staff and all employees involved in distribution. Kamrul Hasan said the combined efforts of qualified and skilled people had made it possible to deliver an accurate and unbiased newspaper to readers every day.

The event also announced that from tomorrow, Ajker Patrika’s web edition would launch an English version alongside its Bangla edition. The move, organisers said, would allow English speaking readers to read the newspaper’s reports.

Kamrul Hasan said although the fifth anniversary was being observed on a limited scale, there were plans to hold a larger event in the future. Kamrul Hasan also expressed gratitude to Abdullah Al Mamun, managing director of the newspaper’s investor, US-Bangla Group.
