
Khairul Islam Sajib, son of Narayanganj-3 lawmaker Azharul Islam Mannan and senior joint convener of Narayanganj district Jubo Dal, has been taken to the Detective Branch office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police for further questioning, according to police.
The matter was confirmed to the media on Sunday by the media wing of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Earlier in the day, Narayanganj district police took Sajib into custody from the capital with assistance from the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tarek Al Mehedi said Sajib was later taken to the office of the Narayanganj Superintendent of Police at around 5pm.
Police said several allegations of extortion have been made against the Jubo Dal leader. Tarek Al Mehedi said Sajib was brought to the district superintendent’s office for questioning in connection with those allegations.
