
The Dhaka Metropolitan South Branch of the National Citizens Party (NCP) has taken out a protest march demanding justice for the disappearances, murders and genocides committed during the Awami League government, which has banned its activities. The march began in front of the Tara Mosque in Mahuttuli, Old Dhaka, at around 4 pm on Tuesday. Later, the procession circled various roads and ended at the Bijoynagar water tank area via Paltan.
In a brief speech before the procession began, NCP Dhaka Metropolitan South Member Secretary SM Shahriar said that the common people, including the people of Old Dhaka, are supporting Sheikh Hasina's demand for justice. Dhaka Metropolitan South has organized this program in recognition of that support and love of the people.
Shahriar said that NCP's programs will continue in every area of southern Dhaka and the common people will be involved in the Awami League's demand for justice.
Responding to a question from journalists, NCP Dhaka Metropolitan South convener Ishaq Sarkar said that democratic and nationalist forces, including the NCP, will work together to prevent any attempt to disrupt law and order and public security in the country.
Leaders and activists of NCP's Dhaka Metropolitan South and Chhatra Shakti took part in the protest march. They said their movement will continue until justice is ensured for the cases of disappearances, murders and human rights violations committed during the Awami League regime.
