
Police recovered the body of an unidentified one-day-old baby girl from a footpath opposite the administrative gate of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital on Sunday evening and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
The dead body was recovered at around 5:45pm by Shahbagh Police Station officers, according to police.
Sub-Inspector Md Lavlu Ahmed of Shahbagh Police Station said police went to the scene after receiving information and found the newborn’s body wrapped in a black cloth.
Police believe the baby was about one day old, SI Lavlu Ahmed said.
SI Lavlu Ahmed said it was not immediately known who had left the dead newborn there. Police are investigating the matter.
