
Prime Minister Tarek Rahman arrived in Beijing from Dalian by high-speed bullet train at 5:35pm local time on Tuesday and was accorded a red-carpet reception and guard of honour at Chaoming Railway Station. His wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, accompanied him on the journey.
Sun Meijun, minister of the General Administration of Customs of China and secretary of the Communist Party of China committee, received the prime minister at the railway station.
Children presented flower bouquets to the prime minister and his wife during the formal welcome ceremony at the station.
The prime minister was later taken in a special motorcade from the railway station to the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in China. Prime Minister Tarek Rahman, his wife and members of the delegation will stay there in Beijing.
Earlier, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman left Dalian North Railway Station for Beijing by high-speed train at 1:58pm local time.
Members of the prime minister’s entourage included Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman; State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit; the prime minister’s foreign affairs adviser Humayun Kabir; adviser on overseas employment Mahdi Amin; defence adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr A K M Shamsul Islam; Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon; and Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony, among others.
Before travelling to Beijing, the prime minister attended the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, at the Dalian International Conference Center at 10am local time.
Prime Minister Tarek Rahman arrived in Dalian, China, with his entourage on Monday after concluding a two-day visit to Malaysia.
The visits to Malaysia and China are his first foreign tour since assuming office as head of government on 17 February after securing an absolute majority in the 13th parliamentary elections.
