BD reshuffles 21 senior police officers: Mosharraf named CID chief, Faruk to lead Highway

The government has carried out a major reshuffle in Bangladesh Police, assigning new responsibilities to 21 senior officers, including appointing Additional IGP Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain as chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Additional IGP Faruk Ahmed as head of Highway Police, according to a Home Ministry notification issued on Sunday.

The notification said the two key posts had remained vacant for a long time.

Under the same order, Md Moniruzzaman, who was promoted to the rank of Additional IGP, was posted to Police Telecom, while Md Mushfiqur Rahman was posted to Police Headquarters.

The notification also made significant changes among officers of DIG rank. DIG Proloy Chisim was appointed Commandant of the Police Training Centre (PTC) in Noakhali, while CID DIG Miah Masud Karim was transferred to the FDMN office of APBN.

Mohammad Osman Gani, Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, was made Commandant of Rangpur PTC, and AKM Mosharraf Hossain Miahji, DIG of Special Branch, was assigned as DIG of Khulna PTC.

Several Additional DIG-level officers were also reassigned. Md Asaduzzaman, Additional DIG at Police Headquarters, was transferred to RAB, while AKM Aktaruzzaman, Additional DIG of Special Branch, was transferred to Police Headquarters.

Md Kutub Uddin, Commandant of 2nd APBN in Muktagacha, was posted to Police Headquarters, and Md Al Mamun, Additional Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, was appointed Commandant of 2nd APBN.

In other changes, Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser, Additional DIG of Highway Police, was made Commandant of PSTS at Betbunia in Rangamati; Mohammad Mohibul Islam Khan, Additional DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, was posted to Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah; Md Abdul Warish, Additional DIG of Naval Police, was transferred to Rangpur PTC; and Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Additional Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police, was attached to the office of the DIG of Barishal Range.

The notification also assigned new responsibilities to five officers of Special Police Superintendent and Superintendent of Police rank. Kazi Ehsanul Kabir, Special Police Superintendent of CID, was transferred to Police Headquarters, while Md Zahidur Rahman, Special Police Superintendent of Special Branch, was posted to Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah.

Salma Sayed Poly, Superintendent of Police of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, was transferred to Rangpur Range. Md Shahidul Islam, Commandant of the In-Service Training Centre, and Md Kamruzzaman, Superintendent of Police at Police Telecom, were attached to the office of the DIG of Barishal Range.
